In this segment Scoops' family prepares to challenge Becky's family in a car wash face off. The only problem is Becky, their best car washer, is missing. This leaves the Botsfords with low morale, or little excitement. While your watching pay attention to how morale, or the level of excitement, changes.

In this clip we learn that morale means how excited a group of people feel about what they're doing. Morale can also mean the level that a group wants to succeed. For example; The kids were not excited for their last spelling test of the year, but their teacher boosted their morale when she announced that there would be a party if everyone passed.

Writing Challenge!
Picture yourself as Becky Botsford in this clip. Becky told her family that she is going to get soapier sponges to boost morale. Write a paragraph about how you would improve the morale in this situation. How would you get your family excited for the car wash face off?

Some things to think about before you begin:
Have you ever been in a group or on a team that needed morale? What did you or someone else do to help? What are some things that make you feel like you are successful? How could you use those experiences in the car wash face off?

Excited? Maybe the water part sounds 'fun' but a car wash? One, my brother hates getting wet, so that's not exciting for a family. My step mother hates ruining her nails, even if it's just water. So all that's left is me and my father, but I don't like cleaning. Not at all! Sooooo, there's my answer! Nothing you expected, huh?

If I was going to go to see what was up with the Diamond studded grill for a Cookout, I'd definently have to make a good excuse, I'd probably come up with something stupid and childish like Becky did, but I don't blame her, either. She was in a rush, I don't like how she told a lie to her parents, but I understand, I'd get my family excited by saying: I have to go get special sponges, that make the car squeaky clean in a small amount of time! But my family wouldn't believe me. I also think that the Diamond Studded grill is a lie, because, for one reason: That would take lie, 1,000,000 dollars just to make, and don't even get me started on how much it would COST!Then, he was probaly just trying to get them to be late, so they could get a head-start and win. But if I made up an excuse like that, I'd really go get some sponges. Just so my family doesn't get suspicious.
